Reciprocal License is Available

Any person who is not a resident of Nova Scotia and becomes one and is licensed in another jurisdiction as a barber and wishes to be licensed in Nova Scotia must complete the attached application and return it to the Board and wait for approval and license issue. This could take time, so please submit your application early to avoid any delays.

If you are from a jurisdiction with no barber laws, please complete the Record of Employment and the Reciprocal Application package.

Apprentice Certification

In addition to professional barbering licenses, our Association also provides apprentice certifications. All interested candidates must submit proof of eligibility and be currently attending school or active in an employer-sponsored apprenticeship. Become a Nova Scotia Certified Barber

Certified or licensed barbers from another province or country moving to Nova Scotia are welcome to apply for the NSRBA certification. We will evaluate your education and ensure that your degree, diploma, or certificate (or other proof of your credential) is valid and equal to our Association’s certificate(s).

Please forward your documents and desired certification to the NSRBA registrar so we can start evaluating your application.
