Verification of an International Barbers Education
At the NSRBA, we require four primary pieces of information to verify the education history and qualifications of international barbers applying for certification in Nova Scotia:
• Existence of the Candidate’s School
• Accreditation of the Candidate’s School By an Approved Authorizing Body
• School Attendance of the Candidate During the Period Claimed
• Granted Diploma to the Candidate as Claimed
In the event the diploma is in a foreign language, then it must be translated by an accredited translation service. Educational verification can be one of the more complex and time-intensive aspects of checks. With many schools restricting anyone but the graduate from accessing records and long turnaround times for obtaining missing diplomas or transcripts, some issues can be expected. For complete documents, allow two to four weeks for verification and a decision by our examiner.
Upon verification, a certificate recommendation equal to the diploma presented and a completed Provincial Exam with no less than a 70% grade is required to qualify for a certificate.
